Attendance

At Whiteley Primary School we believe that regular school attendance is essential if children are to achieve their full potential. There is a great deal of evidence which links high levels of attendance to high levels of achievement, enjoyment of school and to improved life chances. We therefore aim to work closely with parents to overcome any barriers to attendance.

Reporting your child’s absence

If your child is absent from school, it is vital that you notify the school office at the earliest opportunity. The flow chart below is provided to support parents in understanding how and when to report your child’s absence.

Leave of Absence Request Form

If you need to request a leave of absence for your child, please download from the link below or request a paper copy at the school office. Information about how the county uses penalty notices (fines) for unauthorised absence can be found here

What does good attendance look like?

Good attendance is considered to be attendance at or above 97%. At Whiteley Primary School, we use an attendance ladder to help parents understand what your child’s attendance figure means.
